My name is Eric Hanson.  I’m currently living in the Des Moines, Iowa area (Waukee to be exact) and I teach 7th grade math at a middle school here.  I’m also my school’s volleyball and track coach.  I am married and have one child, a 2 year old named Emma (as of 2014).

I was originally an Astros fan, solely because my parents had bought me an Astros jersey when I was very young. It was one of the ones with the rainbow sleeves. As a kindergartener/1st grader, it was pretty awesome, so I declared myself an Astros fan.  In 1991, my family took a road trip to Florida and by coincidence, when we would be passing through Atlanta, my “favorite” Astros team was in town so I attended my first MLB game.  I don’t know if it was the experience of seeing the Braves warm up, or the tomahawk chop, or seeing my first homerun (a 3 run bomb by Ron Gant) or the Braves winning 7-4, but I decided then and there that I was no longer an Astros fan, but a Braves fan.  (Looking back, that was one of the best decisions I ever made)  That season, the Braves began their string of division championships and made it to the World Series where they lost to the Twins in seven.  I have been hooked since.

 Other interests are playing basketball, trying to not be terrible at golf, and applying for the reality show, Survivor. I’ve done that several times and have not succeeded.  Yet.
